JON BRADY FRUSTRATED AFTER COVID HITS COBBLERS SQUAD HARD

The Cobblers boss on the recent postponements

Northampton Town manager Jon Brady has been talking about his frustration at having three recent matches called off.

The Cobblers expect to return to action at Swindon Town on Saturday having seen the Barrow, Walsall and Scunthorpe United games called off, this after a run of eight wins and a draw in the last ten games.

“It’s been really tough to take,” he said.

“We were on a great run with great momentum and when you have that you want to play but unfortunately it has been taken out of our hands.

“Covid has hit the camp pretty hard, the majority of the group have had it including the staff and it hasn’t been in just dribs and drabs.

“The return to training protocols have to be adhered to and we have only got a small group training at the moment. We have to make sure the players are okay before they come back and everything has to be signed off by our medical department.

“It takes time and we have just got to make sure that the players are ready to go and that they are fit and well before they join in training at full strength.

“We really wanted the two home games especially to reward the fans who travelled to Harrogate and Exeter, obviously that wasn’t to be and the health and welfare of everybody is paramount.

“It has been difficult because you are focused on the games you have coming up and to not play them is hard but we live In these strange times at the moment and first and foremost we have to make sure everyone is okay.”
