The Northampton Town Football and Education Programme NFYL South Championship Women's squad won 6-0 at home to Portsmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
An own goal, an Alex Dicks strike as well as doubles for Charlie Cooper and Chloe Martin continued the Cobblers’ 100% league record and took their tally to 50 in just five games.
The hosts took an early lead when Dicks’ cross deflected in off the goalkeeper, who was put under pressure by Cooper.
Cooper had a shot tipped wide as the Cobblers looked to increase their advantage a few minutes later.
Dicks doubled the lead after half-an-hour, running onto Sophie Taylor’s through ball and slotting home.
Cooper played Dicks in on goal shortly after the break, but she fired straight at the goalkeeper.
Cooper was denied twice in quick succession on the hour mark, hitting the post before her follow-up was blocked on the line.
The Cobblers added a third soon after when Martin curled into the far corner directly from a corner.
Another Martin corner resulted in a fourth for the hosts two minutes later, Cooper volleying home in the middle.
Martin doubled her tally and made it five with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when she took down a deep cross and beat the goalkeeper.
Cooper completed the scoring late on, latching onto Beth Artemiou’s long ball and sliding into the bottom corner.
