BIG WIN FOR FOOTBALL & EDUCATION PROGRAMME CEFAL FOUR SQUAD

Cobblers score eight against West Brom

1 December 2021

Brad Cheshire scored a hat-trick as the Northampton Town Football and Education Programme CEFAL Central Four squad won 8-0 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday afternoon.

Kenny Kwarteng and Bailey Giles scored twice. Sonny Reeves scored the Cobblers’ other goal.

Captain Reeves’ first-time strike from a low cross opened the scoring for the hosts early on.

Cheshire doubled the lead a few minutes later, running onto Alfie Leivars’ through ball and slotting home.

It was three before half-an-hour when Max Hust squared to Kwarteng, who finished at the third time of asking.

Cheshire added his second and the Cobblers’ fourth on the hour mark when he headed in off the far post from Hust’s deep cross.

A quickfire double made it six soon after. First, Giles smashed home from another Hust ball in.

Cheshire fired into the roof of the net from the edge of the area to complete his hat-trick moments later.

Kwarteng placed a seventh into the bottom corner with just over 10 minutes remaining, and Giles rounded off the scoring after running in on goal late on.

Francis Banks’ side host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the CEFAL Men’s Cup next week.
