COLIN CALDERWOOD - 'WE CAN BE PROUD OF WHERE WE ARE BUT THERE IS A LONG WAY TO GO'

Assistant manager says hard work is only just starting

Assistant manager Colin Calderwood says the squad will enjoy a break this weekend, but the players will have to make sure they are 'spot on' when they travel to Exeter City next Tuesday.

The Cobblers are without a game this Saturday, before travelling to play Exeter City in Devon next Tuesday.

“We knew we were going to have this bit of a break but if I’m honest I don’t think it’s really either of benefit to us or a hindrance,” he said.

“We can refresh a little bit and that's good but when we go to Exeter next week we need to be spot on."

Calderwood also said he is not surprised by how well the side have started the season.

“Before the season starts everyone always has that hope that things are going to go well but I could really feel that togetherness in the group in pre-season.

“We had some good results at the start of the season which helped that team spirit along and we can be very proud of where we sit right now.

“In saying all that, I believe the football season only really gets started when the nights are dark and we have a lot of hard work still to do.”
