JON BRADY HAPPY WITH SQUAD DEPTH AHEAD OF ROCHDALE CLASH

Fraser Horsfall is set to miss Saturday’s game against Rochdale with the defender serving a one-match suspension following his sending off at Colchester.

“Sid Nelson has been chomping at the bit for an opportunity,” said manager Jon Brady.

“We got Sid in because we believe he is a strong centre-half. He’s done very well in his career so far and I believe he is still on an upward curve.

“He came on at the weekend in a really tough situation and was brilliant aerially for us. He won some fantastic challenges in the air and put some great blocks in on the line.

“I’m comfortable with the cover we have in the squad and what the young players we have out on loan need right now is first team experience.

“That’s really important for their development, from what we hear, Max Dyche did an excellent job for Kettering at the weekend and Josh Flannagan and Liam Cross the same for St Ives. We want to accelerate their learning and not have them as bit part players on the side here, we want them playing first team football at a good level week in week out.

Brady has meanwhile provided a fitness update on Michael Harriman, Jordan Flores and Jack Sowerby.

“Michael needs a lot of fitness work and a lot of looking after to get him back to his best.

“Jordan has Achilles tendonitis but we are trying to get him there or there abouts.

“Jack’s shoulder is recovering well but he could be another couple of weeks.

“We are missing those three to really bolster our squad but having players out always creates opportunities for others.”
