Northampton Town Under 18s beat Peterborough United 2-0 away in the EFL Youth Alliance Merit League on Saturday.
Liam Cross scored his second Merit League goal, and substitute Ayo Lekuti scored his first for the youth team.
Lead Youth Development Phase Coach Shane Goddard made three changes to the team that beat Southend United last week.
Miguel Ngwa, Kai O’Keeffe and Kenny Ndefo replaced Ayo Lekuti, Dylan Hill and Jack Connor in the line-up.
Ngwa had the first shot of the match early on, driving into the area and forcing the goalkeeper into a save at his near post.
Posh responded, hitting the bar with a long-range effort, dragging narrowly wide from a cutback and curling a 25-yard free-kick past the post.
Cross opened the scoring on the hour mark, finding the bottom corner from 20 yards.
10 minutes later, James Dadge tipped over a shot from the penalty spot to deny Posh an equaliser.
Lekuti doubled the lead in injury time, controlling the ball on the edge of the area and beating the goalkeeper with the aid of a deflection.
A late Southend winner against Luton Town means that the youth team remain in second place with one game in hand. They travel to Stevenage in a fortnight.
