Northampton Town Women’s pre-season campaign came to an end with yet another victory; a 5-1 win against Oxford City Ladies away on Sunday afternoon.
The Cobblers dominated the game from early on, but it was Oxford City who scored from their first chance from a set piece on 15 minutes.
The Cobblers regrouped and a few minutes later got a well deserved equaliser after Emma Billenness smashed in a rebound from a Charlie Cooper shot to make it 1-1.
Northampton then took the lead with Billenness playing the ball to Gracie Williams (pictured) who struck it through the keeper's legs from the edge of the box for 2-1.
Some more link up play between Billenness and Williams made it 3-1 just before half time; this time it was Williams setting Billenness who expertly finished from the left side.
Early in the second half the Cobblers added a fourth, Leah Cudone turning brilliantly to play across to Francesca Partridge to make it 4-1.
Cudone then added her name to the scoresheet with a cool finish to wrap up a dominant 5-1 victory for the Women.
It’s back to competitive action now for the Cobblers as they travel to Bedford Ladies in the FA Cup on Sunday before they kick off their league campaign against Rise Park Ladies on 27th September.
