Cobblers boss Keith Curle is pleased with the start to the season, but says there is still room for improvement in his squad as he looked back on the opening two league games.
“Getting that first win on the board was vitally important but we have seen in both games that there are still things we need to work on,” he said.
“We are still learning and developing as a group with new players, we are trying to create that identity and putting the foundations in place but as much as we work on in training, we need those fundamentals to be there on game day.
“We switched to a back four on Saturday at quite late notice and that shows we have the versatility in the squad to do that.
“There will be switches of personnel and switches in formation at points during the season but I will always pick the players that I think I can get the maximum out of. It’s about picking the players who I think will give us the best opportunity to win any given game.
“We will be flexible, we are trying to create a competitive squad and if that means a change of shape or personnel it’s about being brave enough to back your decisions.
“It’s a pleasure working with this group the way they accept challenges and there is still more to come from this group.”
