KEITH CURLE WAITING ON FITNESS OF SEVERAL PLAYERS

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Saturday's season opener

11 September 2020

Cobblers boss Keith Curle is waiting on the fitness of a number of players ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League 1 opener against AFC Wimbledon.

“When you play competitive games back to back you are always going to pick up a few little aches and pains,” he said.

“We will assess each players' fitness but we’ve got a hardy bunch and everyone wants to play

“Every team this year is probably going to be working with reduced squad sizes because of the current climate and when you get injuries you are going to be tested.

“If a player is out then it’s an opportunity for someone else, we’ve got competition for places and the best time for someone else to get an opportunity is at the start of the season.

“We are still looking at the squad and we are still talking to a few people but as I’ve said before we will only make the right move for the football club at the right time. I won't bring someone in for the short term for the sake of it, we will have an eye on the medium term and will do what's right for the club.”
