Cobblers boss Keith Curle has told those selected to play against Southampton in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night that places in the team for Saturday's local derby against Peterborough United are up for grabs.
“You have to take one game at a time and there might be performances on Tuesday night that change our mindset going into the game against Peterborough," he said.
“Peterborough is obviously an important game for us but first and foremost our mindset is on trying to beat Southampton.
“Southampton have got an identity and a philosophy. They’ve got a fantastic academy that has produced a lot of very good players and Tuesday night is an opportunity for their young players to showcase themselves in a competitive environment.
"We will be ready for that challenge."
