McWILLIAMS PLEASED WITH POINTS HAUL FROM RECENT AWAY GAMES

Midfielder reflects on the trips to Burton and Rochdale

Midfielder Shaun McWilliams has plenty to be pleased about as he looks back on the two away games in the last week – the 3-1 win at Burton and Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Rochdale.

"Before the two away games if you had offered us the four points from those matches we would have taken it, even though of course we wanted to win both," he said.

"I am pleased to have got through those two games fine, I felt a bit leggy just before I came off on Tuesday but I am fine and looking forward to the home games next week.

"Rochdale are a side who move the ball well and you have to work hard to contain them. I didn't think they caused us too many problems but they got their equaliser and took a point and fair play, it was a good free kick.

"From a personal point of view, it was good to go back to Rochdale, it was where I made my debut in 2017 and a lot has happened since then.”

McWilliams started at both Burton and Rochdale, just his second and third league starts since being injured at Crawley Town last Boxing Day.

"I am back fit, and I want to stay fit and try and get a run in the team. I have worked hard and will continue to do that and hopefully I can kick on when called upon next,” he said.

"I have been pleased with my form. My match fitness is coming back slowly and I am quite pleased with how things have gone.

"All things considered, I think we are adapting well to life in League 1. I think we are improving, we have improved at both ends of the pitch in the last few weeks and we are slowly but surely finding our way."
