Cobblers boss Keith Curle says that while the league remains the priority, he is looking to make progress in the competition as he previews Tuesday night’s Papa John’s Trophy fixture with Stevenage, kick-off 7pm.
“From day one this season the league has always been our priority but Tuesday is another opportunity for us to harness some of the things that we have been working on in training,” he said.
“There is no better place to practice, learn and improve than out on the pitch in a competitive fixture.
“We will be using the game to make sure the fundamentals within the group are right and that everybody is up to speed on what is required.
“Winning or losing games we need to be on an upward curve, improving and developing.
“Everybody who has signed a contract here has the ability to impress but they need to show it when given the opportunity.”
