KEITH CURLE PRAISES COMMITMENT OF PLAYERS AFTER ROCHDALE DRAW

The thoughts of Keith Curle

Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised his players as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Rochdale.

“It was a very committed good away performance,” he said.

“We knew that Rochdale could dominate possession but we wanted to defend as a unit and protect the goalkeeper.

“I don’t think Jonathan Mitchell had too much to do and they didn’t trouble us greatly. Credit to Rochdale they handle the ball well but they didn’t open us up.

“We showed good discipline but it was a cheap free-kick to give away and that was disappointing.

“The organisation, work rate, the application and the players understanding of their roles was very good. The only criticism would probably be we turned down a few opportunities when we could have put them under more pressure.

“We’ve picked up a solid point tonight with a solid performance and that will continue to give us the foundation from which to build.

“To have fans possibly back next week would give us a massive boost, the club has done a lot of work behind the scenes and we’d love to have supporters back singing their heart out. We want to give them a football club to enjoy and be proud of.”
