GOODE SAYS PLAYERS ARE KEEPING THEMSELVES IN BEST SHAPE POSSIBLE

Cobblers skipper on the issues facing the squad

2 May 2020

Cobblers captain Charlie Goode has spoken about the current situation during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Goode acknowledges the difficulty faced by workers in many different industries, and says players are no different

“It’s very difficult and if you ask all the players I’m sure they would say the same,” he said.

“We’ve never been in this position before, no one could have planned for it but the staff have been really good and we’ve all been given programmes to work to.

“We have to keep ourselves as fit as possible and we’ve got to be prepared for when we are back in.

“We want to finish the season; we’ve got ourselves into a strong position and we really want to achieve the target we set ourselves at the start of the season.

“Obviously everything has got to be right before we can get back but hopefully we will be back playing as soon as possible.

“Not having a date to be back is probably the toughest part, normally when you finish for the season you know exactly when you will be back and you tend to up your pace gradually but at the moment we don’t have a date and we just have to keep ourselves in the best condition as possible."
