CALLUM MORTON NOMINATED FOR SKY BET LEAGUE 2 PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD

Young loanee on the shortlist

10 March 2020

Striker Callum Morton has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month award.

The EFL have announced the following shortlist:

Chris Hussey (Cheltenham Town) – full-back
A key member of a defence which conceded just four goals in seven games, Hussey strode forward with purpose from left-back. In addition to two assists from his corners, he scored a stunning curled free-kick in the win at Colchester.

Leon Legge (Port Vale) – central defender
The veteran defender’s experience was pivotal to victory against fellow promotion contenders Colchester with a goal-saving double-block on the line, while his prowess in the air saw him power home a header at Walsall.

Callum Morton (Northampton Town) – striker
Socks down by his ankles and his all-action style give Morton an old-fashioned air, but his energy to press defenders and his calmness in front of goal are thoroughly modern. His five goals in six games all came away from home.

Charles Vernam (Grimsby Town) - striker
Vernam has flourished under Ian Holloway in the left-sided striker role of a front three. His four goals and two assists in February included a stunning hat-trick at Colchester featuring a magnificent 70-yard solo dribble and shot.

THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 13 MARCH.

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
