CHARLIE GOODE SAYS PLAYERS ARE DELIGHTED TO BE BACK TRAINING

Skipper says there is a buzz around the squad looking ahead to the play offs

Skipper Charlie Goode says the squad are delighted to be back in training.

The players returned to train - in small groups in line with the EFL's return to training protocol - at the PTS Academy Stadium on Monday, and Goode says it felt good to be back.

"It really is great to be back," he said.

"We are in groups of 5 and so we aren't seeing all of the lads at the moment but it is just good to be back training again. We are doing a lot of hard work in these sessions and the preparation really steps up now.

"For the first 2 or 3 weeks after football was suspended, we were probably expecting to get stright back to it, but as time went on we realised this would be a long break and things would take time. Now we finally have something to aim for, all the lads are buzzing and we can't wait.

"The possibility of the play offs has given the boys a big lift. We have done so much hard work this season, we want to finish things off and complete what we have started.

"For now, it is getting back in to our tempo, our routine and hopefully we can be back in full contact training really soon. That is what we are hoping for and when that happens, things will really begin to pick up.

"In a way we are preparing for a mini tournament. It is a strange situation but we have some big games ahead of us to make sure the season finishes how we want it to.

"It felt strange coming in to training, it feels like the first day of pre-season, but rather than some friendlies coming up we know we have some very important games just around the corner."
