ADAMS SAYS PLAYERS WANT TO REPAY FANS FOR THEIR BACKING

Club Captain looks ahead to Thursday

16 June 2020

Club captain Nicky Adams says the players can't wait for Thursday night to come around when the Cobblers take on Cheltenham Town in the Sky Bet League 2 play off semi final first leg.

The game will be played behind closed doors but Adams says the best way the players can repay the fans for their support is by giving their all out on the pitch.

"Play off week is here and we are all very excited," he said.

"This is what we have been working towards and building towards. If you are in the top seven you have done something right over the season as it was and we deserve to be here. We have a shot at promotion now and we can't wait to get going.

"We have a good squad and we know whoever is selected on Thursday night will be well prepared. It will be a tough couple of games against Cheltenham but we are ready for it.

"These are strange times for everyone and there is no form to go on. All four teams are good sides, there won't be a lot between the teams, we expect they will be tight games but the lads are buzzing for it and we can't wait.

"We know that under usual circumstances, this place would be rocking on Thursday. The big disappointment in all of this for us is that the fans can't be here, but we know they will all be watching and listening and they will be with us in spirit. They have got right behind all the initiatives the club have put forward and the best way we can repay them is by giving our all out on the pitch and I'm sure they know we will be doing just that."
