NICKY ADAMS - 'PLAYERS, SUPPORTERS AND STAFF - WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER'

Club captain says squad are well placed ahead of play off matches

Club captain Nicky Adams says the squad are desperate to try and repay the fans for their support as they prepare to take on Cheltenham Town in the play offs next week.

The games will take place behind closed doors, but that hasn't stopped supporters taking part in the Cobbler in the Crowd promotion and telling the club they don't want a season ticket refund.

“The play-offs are going to be different and in an ideal world we’d love the fans to be here, they’ve been great all season and we want to give them what they deserve for everything they have given us this season," said Adams.

“Whether it be for not asking for a ticket refund, taking part in Cobbler in the Crowd or just for their support, we can’t thank the supporters enough and we are going to give these games our best shot.

“As we hopefully showed by the decision to forgo our bonuses for reaching the play offs, we are all in it together and hopefully we can have a really good end to the season."

As for the training itself, Adams says it is good to be back with the group.

“It’s good to be back with the lads and we’ve been working really hard in the last couple of weeks,” he said.

“The first week back was more about individual work but the intensity has really stepped up this week.

“We are back in group training, we don’t have a lot of time to prepare for the games but we will be doing everything we can to make sure we are ready.

“During the time we were off we knew we had to make sure we kept ourselves in good condition and mentally right, knowing we had a chance to come back for the play-offs definitely helped maintain that focus.

“We know the games are going to be tough but we have just got to stay focused.

“I’ve been in play-offs before, momentum can play a big part so that might be different this year but really it’s just about who turns up on the day.

“It’s about who prepares better and hopefully that will be us.

“We’ve known from the start of the season what our goal is and hopefully now we can finish the job off.

“It’s been a great group all season, we put ourselves in a great position and now we’ve got a real chance for promotion.”
