Northampton Town FC Community Trust are excited to announce the phased return of our Soccer Schools this summer. Sessions commence from Monday August 3rd.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we have been working meticulously behind the scenes to make these Soccer Schools happen. Our priority in delivering these courses is to ensure that your child is kept safe, whilst also being able to have fun, practice and develop their football skills and improve personal skills too.
All sessions will be compliant with government and FA guidelines around social distancing and COVID-19 with some of the changes including:
• Sessions will only run for 3 days of the week (Wed, Thu, Fri). Children will need to sign up for the full three days to take part, they’ll be allocated into bubbles, much like in school.
• Based on FA and government guidance we’ll be working to a ratio of 1:5 meaning that course numbers will be limited. (These ratios could change when further guidelines are released). Smaller numbers enables us to safely deliver and also enables us to deliver more individualised coaching too.
• For summer courses, all bookings will need to be made in advance online at ntfccommunity.co.uk/bookings. As numbers on sessions will be limited, we will not be accepting any walk ups - ie turning up to pay and take part on the day itself.

In addition to regular, in person delivery, we will also be bringing back our Virtual Soccer Schools that were successfully piloted during the May Half Term. These will be running during all four weeks in August to enable children to take part in activities with others, but from home. These will be running on Mondays and Tuesdays every week in August, starting on Monday August 3rd. Participants will be required to register in advance to take part in these sessions by visiting ntfccommunity.co.uk/bookings
The Virtual Soccer Schools will run just like our usual Soccer Schools but with children taking part in activities from home. The day commences with a 9:00 am start on Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This will be an hour -long call with our coaches who will introduce the day. On top of the regular football skills that will be taught, this summer, we will be learning about football in European countries from how it began as sport in the country, its history as competitive football, learning about the top teams, legendary icons and we will also give participants the chance to learn football related phrases in different European languages such as Spanish, Italian and German.
During the morning Zoom call players will participate in a morning quiz and a big group warm up, where everyone including parents can loosen up, stretch and get ready for a day of exciting challenges. Once all warmed up the participants will be given the links to watch our challenge videos, these videos will be the practical challenges for the day which children and families can take part in at home.
These challenges will be in the form of activities like ball control drills, dribbling circuits and skill master class challenges. Participants will first get to practice before having the opportunity to video themselves and submit their entry to the Northampton Town Community Trust.
All practical challenges will be judged by the coaches who will throughout the day pick the winners, who in turn will win prizes in the form of medals. As well as this all participants will receive an electronic version of our Summer 2020 Virtual Soccer School Activity Pack and inside these packs there will be quizzes, puzzles and activities for the participants to do during lunchtime when tucking into a nice sandwich. After lunch there will be more practical challenges before the participants log back on to Zoom for the afternoon session of the day for a group quiz/activity and the coaches will announce the challenge winners for the day.
