KEITH CURLE ON FOOTBALL FINANCES, FITNESS OF SHAUN McWILLIAMS AND RECRUITMENT

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to the next few weeks

Keith Curle says he expects football finances to change this summer - particularly around player contracts.

"There are going to be financial changes in football. Players now will be offered contracts that might not match their expectations but in a few weeks time that expectation might change," he said.

"The market now is very different to how it was, even in January and we will see that in the coming weeks.

"A lot of our signings, including the loan players, made a big impact for us this season and credit goes to the recruitment department. The staff know what I am looking for - we don't just want good players, we want players who fit in to what we are looking to do.

"When we came in this club was not on an upward curve. We have started on that upward curve now and we wanted to keep that going.

"Shaun McWilliams is a player in the final stages of his rehabilitation and we hope he will be ready for next season. We will need Shaun next season, we will need his energy to hunt teams down and to work hard.

"We won't be changing our identity next season, we will work hard, we will play at a tempo and we will play and go forward with purpose. I want bums on seats and bums off seats because we are exciting the supporters and the fans can relate to us.

"In terms of recruitment, we have had to wait to see which division we are in but we do now have irons in the fire recruitment wise. There is competition for good players but we are involved in that competition. As always, we are doing our homework to see if the players fit us and we fit for them."
