Cobblers boss Keith Curle was pleased with Tuesday night’s 3-0 home win over Scunthorpe United, a Sam Hoskins penalty adding to a brace from Vadaine Oliver.
“We had to mix things up a little bit with the injuries we have and Scott Wharton still suspended but the game plan didn’t change and everybody was on the same page,” he said.
“It was another challenge we faced with the new lads coming in but I think the group has shown real strength of character. There is a real togetherness in the group and I think the new players have enjoyed their welcome.
“Mark Marshall is still a little bit rusty but it was good to get him on the pitch and overall three goals, three points, a clean sheet and three new players in to the group make it a good night for us.
“Saturday is a massive game for us now, Macclesfield are fighting for their lives and we’ve got to show that hunger that we are up for the challenge.
“The Emirates FA Cup is in the background and rightly so but our focus is firmly on Macclesfield.”
