Cobblers boss Keith Curle is looking at the teams above the Cobblers in the league table ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Leyton Orient.
“We are chipping away those points, we have still got to play the teams above us and our focus is on that top spot,” he said.
“This is a big week for us but our focus right now is on Leyton Orient on Tuesday night. It is no further than that.
“Our preparation for that started on Sunday and as with all our games we’ve got targets that we want to hit both individually and collectively.
“Our format for preparation doesn’t change and the pleasing thing is that the players are tuned into that.
“The players know that Derby County and Wayne Rooney are coming here on Friday night and we don’t shy away from success, it’s a fantastic achievement for the football club to still be in the Emirates FA Cup but there is a game on Tuesday against Leyton Orient and the mindset from the changing room is we need a performance.
“They are a competitive team with good ability but every game we go into we know we can compete. They’ve got some good technicians and a goal threat but with every team they have weaknesses and we will be looking to exploit those and implement our own game plan.”
