KEITH CURLE - 'DERBY TIE IS A FANTASTIC GAME FOR THE CLUB'

The Cobblers boss looks ahead

7 January 2020

Cobblers boss Keith Curle has been giving his reaction to the Emirates FA Cup fourth round draw that saw Northampton Town handed a home tie with Derby County.

“It’s an excellent draw and I think the excitement will build the closer we get to it,” he said.

“Derby are a fantastic football club, they will probably be a bit disappointed with their league position compared to last season but there has been a bit of re-structuring going on and the main focal point for them at the moment is probably Wayne Rooney.

“For Wayne Rooney to go to a football club of Derby’s stature shows you something and having someone of Wayne’s personality and character at your football club can only be a positive.

“They have won their last couple of games and I’m sure the arrival of Wayne is keeping everybody on their toes.

“We’ve set the players challenges all season and the Derby fixture will be no different but our focus is always on the next game and we don’t look any further ahead than Salford at the moment.”
