JORDAN TURNBULL FITNESS BEING MONITORED

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Saturday and provides an injury update

Cobblers boss Keith Curle provides a fitness update on Jordan Turnbull who missed the midweek win over Scunthorpe through injury.

Fellow defender Scott Wharton is meanwhile set to serve the final game of his three-match ban on Saturday.

“Jordan has a slight tear in the abductor muscle in the top of his hip that he picked up about twenty minutes into the Derby game,” he said.

“Being the player he is he got through that game but after the adrenaline wore off he had to go for a scan. It’s not an overused muscle injury but it something we need to monitor.

“James Olayinka picked up a bit of a knock on Tuesday night but I think you will see that a lot with him. He is a player that gets about the pitch, he hunts the football down and with that he is going to pick up bumps and bruises. That is part and parcel of how he plays and is something to be expected.

“Joe Martin is a competitive player and he won’t shy away from anything in our box or the opposition box. He’s got the versatility to be able to play in a number of positions and an excellent level of commitment. He needs more minutes but even without that the competitive edge is still there.

“Harry Smith and Shaun McWilliams are doing well and both players are probably ahead of schedule. The attitude both of them have shown has been first class.

They come in with a smile on their faces even though they can’t play at the moment and they have both fully accepted the challenge to get themselves back fit.”
