KEITH CURLE - 'A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THE CLUB, ON AND OFF THE PITCH'

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Friday night's tie

24 January 2020

Cobblers boss Keith Curle previews Friday night’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie with Derby County in front of the BT Sport cameras at the PTS Academy Stadium, kick-off 8pm.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase ourselves as a club on and off the pitch,” he said.

“It will be an exciting night and we don’t shy away from the fact that this is a massive opportunity for us to test ourselves against a very good Championship team.

“As a football club we will host Derby and give them the respect they deserve but on the pitch we will be competitive.

“We enjoy working hard as a team and the application and attitude of the players has been first class.

“We will have challenges on Friday night but we won’t shy away from those challenges.

“We will be looking to get on the front foot to try and cause Derby problems, we will show them respect but the best way to do that to a team is by getting close to them.

“In Wayne Rooney Derby have one of the biggest names in World football and if he plays he will be a big challenge for the players but it’s one they are up for.

“We’ve got to get so many things right to get a positive result on Friday night but we’ve got a chance and that’s the beauty of the FA Cup.

“It’s not a forgone conclusion, we’ve got a belief in the changing room but we know we have to be on our game to stand a chance.”
