KEITH CURLE PLEASED WITH OPTIONS AS ALAN McCORMACK APPROACHES RETURN

Cobblers boss on the current state of the squad

Cobblers boss Keith Curle is pleased with where the squad is at heading into a busy week with Alan McCormack close to a playing return.

“There is always room for rotation because we’ve got a very competitive squad,” he said.

“Alan is getting closer and we are monitoring him daily.

“We have options because of the quality in our squad and we have the ability to change are shape and formation.

“We’ve got some good young players emerging as well and the changing room is in a good place.

“We are maybe a little bit light in certain areas but we are only interested in adding quality, and not quantity.

“The players are well prepared, we monitor the rest they get and it’s important that away from the club they are mentally able to switch off and get that quality rest time.

“We monitor the sleep they get, we know the levels we want to hit in training and in games and the work ethic of the group is very good."

Looking back on Saturday’s win over Morecambe Curle added;

“You don’t always perform how you want to perform but ultimately the result is always uppermost in our mind.

“I said that to the players in the changing room after the game on Saturday and we earnt the result against Morecambe by being prepared to get forward and by being clinical.

“There are elements within the game that we know we can do better, we’ve got a very honest group and the players knew without me saying anything that in the performance we hadn’t hit the levels that we want.”
