KEITH CURLE - 'I HOPE THE FANS UNDERSTAND WHAT A HUGE PART THEY PLAY'

The Cobblers boss on the fantastic away support of the Cobblers fans

Keith Curle has heaped praise on the travelling Cobblers supporters after Saturday's 2-1 win at Salford City.

For the second successive weekend, Northampton Town were backed by an away following of 1,000+ and for the second successive weekend, their support was rewarded with an excellent away win.

"It is always difficult to go away from home and get a result but we have done that two weekends in a row now and that is very pleasing," said the Cobblers boss.

"I looked across at the away following before the game and I thought to myself, 'They are our fans', and it was great to see the away end full.

"There is certainly something growing here. There is a reason why over 1,000 supporters made a six hour round trip on Saturday. That shows the unity that is building and will be the foundation of what we are looking to build upon.

"You know those supporters will be vocal and they stayed with us even after we went a goal down and got us back on the front foot. There will be moments in these last 20 games when things don't go our way, when we will need that support but we know it will be there for us.

"The supporters play a massive part and I hope they understand that. They are a huge boost to us, they give us a huge lift and they really do make a massive difference.

"If you see the stands full, if you see the away end full it gives you such a lift."
