Keith Curle was understandably delighted after seeing the Cobblers knock out League One side Burton Albion in the Emirates FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon.
Nicky Adams, Ryan Watson, Charlie Goode and Sam Hoskins were all on target as the Cobblers won 4-2 at the Pirelli Stadium to book their place in the fourth round draw on Monday night.
“I think the football club can be very proud of this performance and result today and also of the support we had,” he said.
“Burton are a good footballing team but we did a lot of work on our shape in training. Nicky’s goal came at the right time and then the second goal from Ryan was vitally important.
“Charlie’s goal was the icing on the cake but the goal for them right at the end of the first half gave them a bit of belief and a bit of a foothold.
“Had they got it back to 3-2 that would have given them a real head of steam but we got that fourth goal through Sam which was massive.
“All the lads that came off the field today had emptied the tank, they gave it everything and that was the minimum the supporters who came today deserved. We knew it was going to be a tough game and that we would have to give it everything.
“The supporters' backing was excellent again and there is a real unity building there. Some people might not like how I manage or how the team plays but they like a winning football team."
When asked who he would like in the fourth round, Curle said:
“I’d like anybody at home, I want to continue the progression and with the backing we have there I know it will give the players that extra ten per cent.”
