KEITH CURLE PRAISES THE CHARACTER OF HIS SQUAD AFTER WIN AT MACCLESFIELD

Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the character of his squad as he reflected on Saturday’s hard fought 1-0 win at Macclesfield Town, on-loan West Brom striker Callum Morton scoring the only goal just before the hour mark.

“Macclesfield had only lost once at home this season before today and that is not a stat to take lightly,” he said.

“We’ve got some good characters in our changing room and when you have the right mindset you can take your game anywhere.

“We had to tough it out today and you have to give Macclesfield credit as well.

“Conditions were difficult with the wind but we knew we would be able to get forward a lot more in the second half if we gave ourselves a good platform.

“We are meticulous in our work on set pieces, everyone knows their role and it’s not just about winning that first contact it’s about being in the right area.

“Callum is a goal threat, I didn’t think he looked out of place in the team and that’s testament to him and how he has been welcomed into the group.

“The focus from the changing room was excellent again and we now look to Derby on Tuesday night.”
