CHAIRMAN SAYS FULL FOCUS ON FINAL 11 GAMES

Kelvin Thomas on the run in to the end of the season

27 February 2020

With the club currently occupying a play off spot, Northampton Town Chairman Kelvin Thomas has praised the job done by manager Keith Curle, and says the full focus of everyone at the club is on the final eleven games of the season.

"Keith and his staff have done a terrific job," he said speaking to BBC Radio Northampton and the Chronicle & Echo.

"We were 22nd in the table when he came in, he took on a squad that was under performing and had some high earners in it who had come down from League 1. He has completely revamped that, and I think he has done a better job than he sometimes gets credit for.

"I need to be careful here because if we are negotiating contracts then I can't praise him too much (!), but realistically he has been excellent for the club.

"He has completely changed the mentality of the first team squad, which is one of the things we asked him to do, and we have backed him as a club.

"We have brought players in, spending money on both signings and loans and I think our recruitment has been good under Keith. We have brought some good players in, our league form has improved and we have enjoyed our best FA Cup run since 2004.

"We are all quite relaxed about the contract side of things and we will advance talks as we go along. We have a lot of games coming up so the talks will happen, but they won't be a focus, the focus is the final 11 games of the season.

"We are on the ride now, and our full focus is on the final 11 games. We won't be changing too much, we won't be ripping up our templates, we know what we can do and we are looking for consistency and a full focus. We won't get caught up in a circus around contracts or anything else, we will just be looking to win games and to get effective results."
