HARRY SMITH CLOSING IN ON PLAYING RETURN

Striker praised for his work during his rehabilitation period

28 February 2020

Striker Harry Smith is closing in on a playing return ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Grimsby.

The game may however come a week too soon for on-loan Arsenal midfielder James Olayinka who is continuing his recovery with the Premier League club.

Vadaine Oliver is, meanwhile, available for selection after missing Tuesday’s game at Cheltenham because of personal reasons.

“We’ve had to give Harry double pitch sessions to get him up to speed and he’s not far away,” confirmed boss Keith Curle.

“He’s chomping at the bit and I’ve been really impressed with how he has accepted the challenge to come back from a long injury.

“He’s not had many injuries in his career but from day one he has had an aura about him and a determination to get back playing.

“Everybody within the group has noticed it and Harry has to take a lot of credit.

“James needs to tick a few more boxes at Arsenal before he comes back up to us but I’ve spoken to the physio there and they are very pleased with his progress.

“He needs to prove to them that he’s ready and Grimsby might be too soon but we are expecting him to be available for selection next week.”
