Cobblers boss Keith Curle is delighted that his team are very much in the mix for promotion as we enter the final third of the season.
“Our aim is still the top three,” he said speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Walsall.
“Nobody wants back-to-back home defeats - of course they don't - but we were very much in both games and on another day we could easily have got points from those games. We are still in a good position, sixth in the league and only eight points off an automatic spot.
“There are going to be lots of twists and turns before the end of the season, the top teams still have to play each other and there are a lot of points to play for.
“We have to be ready but we can take a lot of positives from Tuesday night, we gave the league leaders a very good game, their goalkeeper made three match defining saves and on another night it’s a different result.
“We didn’t change our mindset and we created chances. We’ve got a good understanding of how we want to play and that is all geared to getting forward and putting balls into the box with quality.”
