Cobblers boss Keith Curle was disappointed with the manner of the goals that his side conceded as he reflected on Tuesday night’s narrow 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town.
“We started the game very well and I felt we rocked Cheltenham early on,” he said.
“I was disappointed with the first goal where we weren’t competitive enough from the throw-in and the second was just a scrambled ball into the box that we haven’t dealt with.
“We need to be more aggressive in our own box and make sure we make that first contact. At the moment we are making it too easy for teams to have a shot on goal.
“I thought we looked dangerous when we put balls into their box, we had a strong foothold in the game, we just needed a little bit more quality on the break and in the final third.
“We created enough chances to win the game and we gave ourselves a decent platform. We nullified Cheltenham for the most part but we need to show a bit more quality in certain areas.”
The Cobblers boss also confirmed that Vadaine Oliver missed the game for personal reasons.
