Cobblers boss Keith Curle says he will make changes to his team as he previews Tuesday night’s Papa John’s Trophy second round tie at Exeter City.
“I think Exeter will be desperate to put in a performance,” he said.
“I spoke to their manager a couple of days after the game at Wembley, I thought he conducted himself very professionally on the day and in his interviews afterwards and I called to wish him well.
“Exeter wouldn’t have enjoyed that day as a football club and I’m sure they will have that extra bit of incentive on Tuesday night because of that.
“We are going into a busy period of games and players need to be up to speed. Tuesday night will be another opportunity for some of the players who have been on the fringes, it’s a chance for them to get some minutes and to make sure that they understand what is fully required of them by the football club.
“We are trying to get a solid base to build from and everybody needs to be on the same page. Doing it in training is one thing but by seeing it in a game you can sometimes get a different prospective.”
