Cobblers boss Keith Curle is excited for the return of some season ticket holders to the PTS Academy Stadium on Saturday for the visit of Doncaster Rovers.
“I can’t wait,” he said.
“We’ve got a lot of new players at the football club who some of the supporters have only seen at a distance and as was the case last season to gain that unity between the players and the supporters you need familiarity.
“The bedrock of last season was having that relationship between the players and the supporters, it gave us a foundation and the fans backing the players found an extra yard when they needed to.
“We are all on the same page and we all want the same thing.
“The build-up to a game on matchday is completely different without the supporters, there isn’t that matchday buzz and without fans as a football club we have had to create our own focus and our own mentality.
“Our supporters will be our 12th man on Saturday and moving forward but the game is played and won and lost on the pitch. I hope having a crowd in will give us an advantage on Saturday but we need to make sure we do our job.”
