The Cobblers boss says recent signing will wear the armband

23 August 2020

Keith Curle has confirmed that new signing Cian Bolger has been appointed Northampton Town's team captain for the 2020/21 season.

“I’ve made Cian team captain for a reason, he’s got personality, he’s got character and he’s someone who is up for the fight," said the Cobblers boss.

“He won’t shy away from challenges and he won’t shy away from telling people what they need to be told and that is important.

"He is a competitive character and a leader from the back and he is ideal for the role."

The Cobblers boss also gave an update on some of the players who did not feature against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

“Nicky Adams picked up a little knock in training and Shaun McWilliams is still coming back. Harry Smith woke up with a stiff back and we left him out as more of a precaution.

"Scott Pollock has got a groin issue that is taking a little bit more time to settle down than we first thought, but he is working extremely hard and doing everything that needs to be done.

"Luka Racic will also get some game time in the matches ahead."
