KEITH CURLE PLEASED WITH INTERCLUB GAME ON WEDNESDAY

Cobblers boss says pathway is open for young players

20 August 2020

Northampton Town manager Keith Curle was pleased with Wednesday's pre-season work out that saw the first team squad play the youth team.

"It was good to get the first taste of competitive football in to the lads on Wednesday," he said.

"We didn't do any work on shape or patterns of play, it was just a chance to blow the cobwebs away and get the legs going again.

"We let the youth team have an extra player on the pitch so the distances weren't quite as they will be but credit to the youngsters, I spoke to them and told them that some of them did well and impressed me.

There are things that I like in the youth team and without naming individuals, there is a pathway to get some of them involved in the first team squad if they work hard and continue to progress."
