Northampton Town manager Keith Curle says he is active in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2020/21 Sky Bet League 1 season.
"We might not be looking for a like for like replacement for anyone who is no longer with us," he said.
"Sometimes you go for a different blend, a different combination and find a different way that works. The important thing is that the players who come in are not labelled as the next Charlie Goode or whoever. They will be their own men and have their own attributes and will be players who we hope will be on an upward curve alongside the club.
"The main thing is that we will always want value for money in the transfer market. The current circumstances, because of COVID-19 and without the clear knowledge of when supporters will be back, mean that many clubs may find things difficult this season. We are a business and we will behave properly and responsibly and make sure the club remains in a good place financially. We are looking to recruit, but it will be done with value for money in mind. It is not always about how much you spend, it is how you spend it.
"We are working on targets. We won't get in to a bidding war. We put a value on players and we don't go beyond what we think is fair. What we don't do is pay over the odds."
