SUPPORT THE NORTHAMPTON TOWN FC COMMUNITY TRUST WITH THE #TWOPOINTSIXCHALLENGE!

Will you be part of the challenge on Sunday?

23 April 2020

Charities across the UK are taking part in a new challenge to help cope with the current Coronavirus pandemic, and the Northampton Town FC Community Trust wants YOU to get involved too!

The #TwoPointSixChallenge has been set up to support charities across the country, including the Northampton Town FC Community Trust as their fundraising has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday 26th April 2020 the nation are being challenged to think of and take part in an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 to raise vital funds.

Like many charities, Northampton Town FC Community Trust has been forced to cancel many of their fundraising events, and we have seen our income dramatically reduced because of COVID-19.

Despite this, during the pandemic we continue to deliver activities locally to support our community and support those who most need it during these unprecedented times. Through the #KeepCalmAndCobblerOn initiative we have already supported over 350 older adults and vulnerable people to stay connected through phone and video calls. There have even been some special calls from Keith Curle and the players who have also been backing the initiative. On top of this, the Community Trust has been providing mental health first aid support and training, helping older adults to get online for the first time and provided a range of educational resources to schools and parents to use at home.

We are now calling on the Cobblers’ amazing supporters, and the people of Northampton, to join us in getting active and raising some money to help us continue to support people in our community.

How can I get involved?
• The 2.6 Challenge can be anything you like but must include the numbers 2.6 or 26 – so get creative and have some fun with it!
• Complete your challenge and send us a photo on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, or FACEBOOK with the hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge
• Donate what you can, from 26p to £26 and beyond, by CLICKING HERE or searching for ‘Northampton Town FC Community’ on Just Giving.
• Nominate your mates to take on your 2.6 Challenge or dream up their own!

There is no need to be a marathon runner to take part – this is a challenge for all ages and abilities. Just get thinking of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 and complete it on or from Sunday April 26.

It could be something as simple as running 2.6 miles, 26 minutes of yoga, or juggling for 26 minutes - or on second thoughts, maybe just 2.6 minutes! Check out this guide for more ideas and inspiration: twopointsixchallenge.co.uk/inspiration.html

And don’t worry if you’re not able to get out your house or flat for now. We’re not looking for superheroes - we’re looking for Home Heroes.

There are no rules (apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time). Whatever you can do, you can be part of it – the main thing is getting active, having fun and donating whatever you can to help support and save the UK’s charities, including Northampton Town FC Community Trust.

Phillip Smith, NTFC Community CEO said: “Any money raised for us by the public will help us continue to support people locally who most need it as part of the #KeepCalmAndCobblerOn initiative.

“Our ability to fundraise has been drastically reduced by the current situation, but the work we do now is more important than ever. We continue to work with some of the most vulnerable people in Northamptonshire to support them, helping to keep them connected and active. Whether it be a call from a player or manager, or weekly regular contact from community staff via video call or phone call, we want to ensure that everyone knows they are not alone at this time. We are committed to continuing to support our community in this time of need."
