Northampton Town's youth team took on Southend United at Moulton College on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance.
A Haydn Price penalty and a goal from Caleb Chukwuemeka secured a 2-0 win for the Cobblers in what coach Jon Brady described as a 'tough game' for his side.
"It was a tough game and a strong challenge by Southend," he said.
"We kept grinding away and ultimately the boys got the rewards for all their efforts. It was a magnificent individual goal from Caleb and I think overall the result was deserved."
