Midfielder Alan McCormack is nearing a return as the Cobblers prepare to welcome unbeaten Newport County to the PTS Academy Stadium on Saturday.
“We are getting closer to a full set of players,” said boss Keith Curle.
“It’s good to have Joe Martin back and Alan is getting closer."
Curle has also spoken about how Matt Warburton has adapted to league football following his move from Stockport County in the summer as well as talking about Nicky Adams' season so far.
“Matt is adapting well and the only thing he hasn’t got yet is a league goal. His attitude and application have been exemplary and he has adapted to training on a daily basis.
“It does take a bit of time to adapt but he’s enjoying the challenge. Some of his link up play has been very good, there are still things he needs to work on but he has got that willingness to listen, learn and develop.
“Nicky has hit the post twice but he is yet to go on that run of assists that we know he’s capable of.
“He’s enjoying the football club which is massive and he’s got a passion for the club which I think is infectious in the changing room. Results and performances matter to Nicky and that’s why he’s club captain.
“It’s those sort of characteristics we want in a player and it’s the same with Charlie Goode as team captain.”
