YOUTH TEAM TOP TABLE AFTER 5-1 WIN AGAINST PETERBOROUGH

EFL Youth Alliance action

26 October 2019

Northampton Town's under 18s took on Peterborough United at Moulton College on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance.

The Cobblers moved to the top of the table with a resounding 5-1 victory, Michael Harding, Ethan Johnston and Haydn Price amongst the goals.

"It was a very disciplined performance from the boys," said under 18s coach Jon Brady.

"We worked hard on our tactics throughout the week and it was good to see us take that into the game. Steve Morison has hit the ground running and has had a real input.

"Peterborough started the game above us but this result has taken us top and at times we really put them to the sword. It was a great strike from Michael, similar to Scott Pollock's in the week and there were a couple of own goals.

"There was a lot of rain about but generally conditions weren't too bad and Peterborough agreed to play the game on the astroturf which we thank them for."

Next up for the under 18s an FA Youth Cup first round tie against Colchester United at the PTS Academy Stadium on Wednesday (30 October), kick-off 7pm.

Admission prices are £5 adults, £1 senior citizens and free for under 18s.

All supporters can pay on arrival.

"It would be great to see as many people as possible at the game," said Brady.

"The lads have been playing some really good football, this season and Wednesday night will be a great opportunity for them to play at the PTS.

"The FA Youth Cup is something we always look forward too and it would be great to have a cup run."
