KEITH CURLE - 'WE ARE CREATING A CULTURE GEARED TOWARDS THE TOP END OF THE TABLE'

The Cobblers boss on his first year in charge

`Cobblers boss Keith Curle has been looking back on his first year in charge at Northampton Town.

Curle arrived at the PTS Academy Stadium on October 1st 2018 with the Cobblers struggling in 22nd place in League 2, having won just once in the first ten games of the season.

“It’s been an exciting journey and it doesn’t seem like a year to me,” he said.

“There have been a lot of changes and I think that will continue. We’ve got an environment here where people are not scared of change and the enthusiasm around the changes that have been made internally around the football department has been very progressive.

“I want us to be top of the league and I always think we should be but so does every one at every club, we’ve had a good foothold in games and should have more points.

“There is a new era here with the playing squad we’ve got now and there is a fresh mentality.

“It doesn't happen overnight but there is a culture developing inside the football club that is gearing towards the top end of the table. That’s where we want to be operating, inside the top seven and then inside the top three.

“Every football club wants that and I believe the things we’ve implemented are putting us in the right direction.

“It doesn’t happen overnight and there are changes that need to be adhered to but the players we’ve brought in have added new dynamics to the squad and the ones that have remained here have bought into the changes.

“We are not fearful of any challenge we get thrown.

“Needing to win is completely different to wanting to win, when you need something it happens, when you want something sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t.

“We’re trying to create the culture where we need to win and within that to enjoy it.”
