Cobblers boss Keith Curle was a happy man as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 2-0 away win at Carlisle United, a Sam Hoskins stoppage time strike adding to Scott Pollock’s first goal for the club early in the second half.
“We matched them up in the second half and man for man I back us against most teams in this division,” he said.
“There was a defining moment in the first half when David Cornell pulled off a fine save, I was right behind the shot and it was a terrific save.
“I made the decision for us to travel up on the day and tonight it was all about our mental preparation.
“We had the two young lads starting in midfield tonight and I won’t ever shy away from making those decisions’. We are still missing some key personnel but we remain competitive and I felt the substitutes’ tonight really made an impact.
The support we had tonight was excellent, some of them will have had to take two days off work to come tonight and it’s nice to reward them.”
