KEITH CURLE DELIGHTED AFTER THIRD SUCCESSIVE VICTORY

Keith Curle was delighted following his side’s 2-0 home win over Cambridge United, the Cobblers third win on the bounce this week lifting them up to 8th in Sky Bet League 2.

“It took us twenty minutes to get going and to get the fundamentals right,” he said.

“Harry’s goals settled us down but for large parts of the first half we weren’t doing the basics right. In the second half we looked more solid but there is still real room for improvement.

“We still don’t do the fundamentals naturally, today was another mental challenge for the players and we were able to win ugly.

“We looked a threat when we got the ball in over the top, Harry can finish and in my mind as long as he keeps picking up the basics he will go on and score more goals.

“Alan McCormack understands his role in the team, he does his job and the more players we can get on the same page as Alan the better we will be.

“Everything we get we earn, the players have worked hard and this week has been an excellent response following the 3-0 defeat at Scunthorpe.

“The players were honest with themselves after that game and the demands in the changing room since that game have stepped up a level.

“Winning runs are achievable in this division when you do the basics right and when we play to our strengths in the opposition half we can cause any team in this division problems.”
