Tuesday night's draw between Cambridge United and Arsenal under 21s, a tie that saw the Arsenal youngsters then win the penalty shoot out, means that, with Peterborough United v Cambridge United still to play, the Cobblers are guaranteed to finish second in the group.
Peterborough have six points from two games, the Cobblers five from three, Arsenal have three from three and Cambridge one point from two games.
This sends Keith Curle's side through to the last 32 of the competition, and as group runners up, the Cobblers will have an away tie in the next round.
Ties are likely to be played in week commecing December 2nd, with details of the draw yet to be confirmed.
