KEITH CURLE - 'THE FANS HAVE A MASSIVE ROLE TO PLAY'

The Cobblers boss praises the club's support, and says the fans are key to the matches ahead

18 November 2019

Northampton Town manager Keith Curle has praised the support from the stands that helped the Cobblers beat Crewe Alexandra 4-1 on Saturday, and says the fans have an important role to play in the weeks ahead.

"I thought the support was top class on Saturday and the fans are very much part of what we are trying to do here," he said.

"The supporters have a big role to play. It is very important that they continue to back the players as they are doing and I think, now they are getting more familiar with the players and getting to know them as characters and individuals more, we are seeing the support build and build.

"The supporters are seeing the standards this group of players are setting, the demands they are having put on them by the staff and each other and the way we are trying to play effective, winning football.

"I think the spirit within the group was typified by some of the performances on Saturday, in particular Scott Wharton. He is a young lad who suffered a family bereavement but he has fully immersed himself in the club. He has moved down here and is very much part of it, and to play how he did after a difficult week was every credit to him and his family."
