NORTHAMPTON TOWN COMMUNITY TRUST ARE FORCES FRIENDLY

11 November 2019

The Northampton Town Community Trust are delighted to be able to launch their brand new ‘Forces Friendly’ initiative

The initiative is designed to help support veterans to re-integrate and stay connected within their local community. The project will enable veterans of all ages to access a range of NTFC Community Trust run projects for free over the next year thanks to the recent fundraising support of the Blades Team.

The activities on offer from launch as part of this initiative will include: Walking Football, Extra Time Hubs, Every Player Counts, Fit Cobblers, Monday Night Legends and access to our Multi-Disabled Football Club sessions. Further sessions will be added as the year goes on.

Veterans will be required to show ID when signing up or at their first session to be registered onto the initiative.

Walking Football is open to men and women aged 50 and over. It is a slower paced version of the beautiful game that is perfect for those wanting to get back into football or indeed try it for the first time. Walking Football training takes place every Saturday morning at Thomas Becket Catholic School. For more info on walking football please click here

Extra Time Hubs are all about providing adults aged 55+ the opportunity to access weekly physical and social activities in the local community. Join us at the PTS Academy Stadium every Monday morning to take part in activities (such as crafts, singing, table games, local walks, sport and activity sessions), learn about what is going on in the local community and meet new people who share similar interests. Every Player Counts is a brand new programme that provides weekly football sessions in Kettering and Northampton. The programme aims at supporting and improving people’s mental health using football and physical activity to do so. Each weekly session provides coaching and mini matches in a safe, non-judgemental and fun environment followed by an opportunity to socialise with a cuppa.

Fit Cobblers is a free twelve week-long course that aims to help you lose weight and improve your health. It provides participants with the knowledge, support and activity to help make small lifestyle changes which can have a positive effect on their health. If you are thinking about losing weight and improving your health, you’re not alone and this is the perfect first step to join a group with like-minded men to make that happen. Fit Cobblers is held at the PTS Academy Stadium on a Thursday evening. For more information please click here.

Monday Night Legends is a female only football session for players of all experience, abilities and fitness levels. Open to anyone aged 16+ sessions are turn up and play and take place on Monday evenings in Duston. For more information please click here

The Northampton Town Multi-Disabled Football Club offers pan disability coaching and playing opportunities for all ages. The club runs a number of children and adult teams that compete in local and national leagues. We provide professional coaching on a weekly basis to all levels of ability to help support more people with disabilities to access footballing opportunities. Training is on a Friday evening at Moulton College. For more information please click here
