Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the focus and mindset of his players as he reflected on the 3-0 victory at Chippenham Town in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.
“The longer you stay in the cup competition the better it gets and today was all about the result,” he said.
“We are building that momentum and belief, there are still basics and fundamentals that we need to keep working on and improve but the application of the players was spot on.
“We spoke about the mindset we needed and the focus of the group was there. There is a level of performance we expect from the players and that’s regardless of the opposition.
“It’s important for all strikers to score goals but I know we still haven’t seen the best of Harry Smith and Vadaine Oliver yet.
“The cup can be a fantastic distraction but now our focus is straight back onto the league and we’ve got a fantastic game to look forward to against Crewe.
“The league campaign is where we are going to earn our money and that is our bread and butter. Our performances and results are on an upward curve but we know there is still a lot more to come from this group.”
