Northampton Town's youth team completed their season with a visit from Peterborough United to Moulton College in the EFL Youth Alliance Merit Division on Saturday.
Despite a Caleb Chukwuemeka brace and a goal from under 16s player Tom Scott, the Cobblers were beaten 4-3 but coach Jon Brady was keen to stress the overall positives from a very successful season.
"We've had a fantastic season," he said.
"To win the league, reach the third round of the FA Youth Cup and the semi-finals of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup shows we are making real progress.
"We were always in the game today and we battled right until the end.
"Attacking wise we always looked dangerous but the defence was an issue. We are not inundated with defenders and that is an area where we need to improve."
